I’ve taught courses in management accounting for years and always told my students about how beneficial the CMA certification would be for their careers, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I decided to earn the certification myself.
Although I knew I would have no trouble with the management accounting portions of the exam, it had been a long, long time since I had studied financial accounting, I’d never had a systems class, and there were entire fields that had emerged since I earned my business degrees, such as enterprise risk management, that I knew would be covered on the CMA exam, so I had a lot to learn before I could sit for it.
The Gleim online course was exactly what I needed. I could study on my own schedule, which was cramped because I did most of my studying over one winter break. I learned everything I needed to know from the engaging videos and comprehensive text, and felt prepared to sit for both parts after taking the practice exams.
I took both parts of the CMA exam in January 2020, and I felt comfortable taking the test because the format was almost exactly the same as what I saw in the Gleim course and both the multiple choice questions and the essays were similar to those I had practiced through the course. Not only did I pass both parts, but I also earned the ICMA gold medal for the highest score in my testing window.
