CPA Hot Topic—International Demand & Improved Score Release

Garrett Gleim sends CPA candidates bimonthly emails concerning different aspects of the CPA exam. Candidates can see the most recent email and all the archives here on the CPA Candidate Forum.

International demand for U.S. CPA licensure continues to grow. As a result more international testing locations are needed. The AICPA, NASBA, and Prometric recently announced that administration of the Uniform CPA examination will be offered in Brazil starting in February 2012. Testing will be open to citizens and long-term residents of Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, and Columbia.

On another note, there is good news for those of you taking the exam in the upcoming months. The AICPA announced that scores for the U.S. CPA exam will be released earlier and in a more predictable manner. As the AICPA has planned since the inception of CBT-e, the following score release timeline will be implemented starting in the fourth quarter of 2011:

Target release timeline

Day 1-20 – November 3 (10 business days following day 20 of the testing window)

Day 21-45 – November 21 (5 business days following day 45 of the testing window)

Day 46-Close of window – December 7 (5 business days following the close of the testing window)

After Close of Window – TBA (5 business days after receiving all scoring data for the testing window)

Note: The scores for BEC may be delayed until the next release due to the written communication tasks.
