Question: Do I have to take all four parts of the CIA exam at one time? If not, how long do I have to complete all four parts?
Answer: You do not have to take all four parts of the CIA exam at one time. According to The IIA, once a candidate’s application to the CIA program has been approved, the candidate can continue to pursue certification until all of the requirements are met. A candidate’s program eligibility will expire, however, if
- It has been two years from the date that the candidate’s application was approved, AND
- The candidate has not successfully completed all required exams, AND
- The candidate has not sat for an exam part in the past two years, AND
- The candidate does not have a current open registration for an exam part. (An open registration is defined as a paid registration for an exam part for which the candidate has not yet sat. Exam registrations are valid for 180 days from the date that the registration is processed at The IIA.)
