Question: I did not pass the CIA Exam in November, how can I figure the percentage correct based on my number score?
Answer: Because the CIA Exam is graded based on “scaled scoring,” you can not determine the exact percentage answered correctly based on your number score. The IIA adjusts the passing scores of each exam depending on the difficulty of that exam.
To pass the exam you need to score 600 points. On an exam with a difficulty equal to what the Board of Regents deems appropriate, a candidate would need to answer 75% of the questions correctly. However, if an exam is found to be more difficult than the norm, a candidate may only need to answer 70% of the questions correctly to achieve 600 points.
