Before he became the international leader in accounting exam prep, Dr. Gleim was just an accounting professor who wanted to make a difference.
Who knew that when Dr. Irvin N. Gleim launched his CPA Exam review course 45 years ago, he would launch an entire self-study CPA Exam review industry? Since that time, Gleim has helped candidates pass more than one million CPA exams. To celebrate our anniversary, we’re taking a look back at how it all started.
Dr. Gleim published the first self-study CPA review book in June 1974. Then an accounting professor at the University of Florida, he decided to break ground by making a self-study option available to help his accounting students pass the CPA Exam.
There were no self-study options back then, and most students couldn’t afford a live review course. I wanted to create a course that everyone could benefit from no matter their background.
